Ray Bucheger worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN) until his untimely and tragic death in 2002, and then briefly for Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) before opening Governor Jim Doyle’s Washington D.C. office in February, 2003 where he lobbied on a number of policy issues and secured federal funding for the State.
Ray currently uses his extensive contacts in various Executive Agencies and on Capitol Hill to represent the interests of his clients, which include Fortune 500 companies, public and non-profit entities, and regional and national organizations. Ray is continuously monitoring and pursuing client needs in numerous issue areas, including international trade, defense, homeland security, transportation, energy, taxes and maritime issues; and he is intimately familiar with the federal appropriations process. Ray works with Congressional delegations from throughout the country; with Members and staff on numerous Congressional Committees; and with a range of DC-based interest groups, and achieves results by building multi-state, bi-partisan coalitions both on and off Capitol Hill.
Ray is also registered to lobby in Wisconsin, where he is intimately familiar with the Governor’s staff, as well as agency heads and their respective staff; and he is knowledgeable about Wisconsin’s geographic and political landscape.
Ray earned his undergraduate degrees in Economics and Political Science and a Master of Science in Applied Economics (MSAE) at Marquette University. During his time at Marquette, Mr. Bucheger acquired a solid grounding in economic theory and the working knowledge of advanced quantitative methods, developing practical skills he uses to solve real problems confronting business and government.
As the current President of the Marquette Club of Washington, D.C., Mr. Bucheger is constantly growing his list of Washington, DC contacts and increasing his outreach. | |
